Included/Exclude

Day 1: Transfer to Met station (3,050 m) 3 -4 hrs, 10km, 400m ascent.

Pick up from your residence in Nanyuki at 11;00 AM Transfer to Mount Kenya base Naro- Moru park gate start of the trek up through magnificent montane forest, bamboo and giant heather zone This is a gentle trek that takes 3 – 4 hrs gaining an elevation of 600m before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first cabins (Met Station) for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 2: Met Station – Mackinder’s camp (4,300m).5-6 hrs, 11km, 1,200m ascent. A short walk to the end of the forest line from where you hike across the marshy vertical bog of the lower moorlands. Picnic lunch at the Picnic Rock location before continuing further to Mackinder’s camp, gaining 1300m in altitude in about 5 hours. Dinner and overnight stay Mackinder’s camp (4300m)

 

Day 3: Top hut – Pt Lenana (4,985m)

The D-Day ready for summiting at 2 AM predawn -Summit attempt day, trekking for 3-4 hours armed with touches on our forehead across bare rock and scree slopes characteristic of the alpine region up to Pt. Lenana (4985m), the hikers’ summit, arriving in time to catch the African sunrise from the roof top of the second highest mountain in Africa. Later descend for breakfast lower the mountain The descent is gentle and it offers ample time to enjoy fascinating scenery which includes the moorlands before reaching the camp for lunch and later Dinner and overnight top hut

 

Day 4: Old Moses (3,300m)

Morning breakfast, descend to old Moses camp fascinating view of Aberdares ranges that face directly opposite Mount Kenya drive through the rain forest to the Sirimon Park gate. Transfer to Nairobi meal plan Breakfast only
